Cargo Handling

Port Vieux Fort handles a variety of cargo, unit loads and break-bulk. Containerized Cargo is handled by a Liebherr 80 tonnes capacity shore Crane and Valmet Straddle Carriers with a safe working load of 45 tonnes. There is also the option of tug-trucks used to convey container units to and from vessel operations on the Finger Pier. Additionally, there is one (1) fork-lift which can be used for the transport of empty containers and Break-bulk cargo is also handled by fork-lifts. Cargo in bulk handled with regularity consists of cement, lumber, steel, cardboard boxes, waste paper, aggregate, petroleum products and bananas. Destuffing of containers is done as per Tariff rates.
